Repairing the Cracked Swing Arm

During the summer and after a few rides out around the country, Shere Hill Climb was coming up and I felt it was necessary to give the 888 the once over and when I cleaned off the chain lube on the left swing arm pivot point, I was met with a rather nasty crack.  The swing arm was secure, but this was not good news and needed some urgent attention, which meant stripping down the rear of the bike and removing the swing arm to inspect and then to consider what to do. I was looking for an original rear swing arm, but many of them were scuffed and damaged, but finally got directed to Guy Pearson at Exactweld in East Grinstead (Facebook link).  To say that they know their stuff is an understatement.  The prep and work was impressive and the quality of the finish was phenomenal.  Have a look at these pictures.
